Fatigue and inattentiveness are common underlying causes of workplace and roadway accidents. Accidents not only put drivers and others in the path of their vehicle at risk, but can also lead to extensive property damage and lost product and profits. The OpGuard fatigue risk management system is a non-intrusive solution that increases driver, employee, and civilian safety by identifying the earliest signs of driver fatigue and sending alerts to allow an instant response, regardless of the number of active drivers you have deployed at any given time.
OpGuard System Components
The OpGuard system is designed to allow driver fatigue monitoring in a non-intrusive way. OpGuard’s IR camera sensors and illuminators are mounted directly on the vehicle dash, requiring no direct interaction with the driver and maintaining a low profile for maximal driver visibility. The system’s onboard computer module is similarly small and can be mounted in an unobtrusive area to maximize available cabin space. A loudspeaker component allows for local alerts to be played.
OpGuard System Function
OpGuard continually monitors driver awareness by measuring several characteristics, including percentage of eye closure and three-dimensional head movement. Certain changes in these characteristics are indicative of drowsiness and micro-sleep events. When an event is recorded, an alert is immediately sent to the monitoring dispatcher so fast action can be taken. Dispatchers can manually validate driver fatigue by accessing still shots or video clips recorded only during the event; if driver fatigue is confirmed, instantaneous communication can be made by dispatchers to guide drivers to a safe stopping location or take other actions to prevent a fatigue-related accident.
